week 3: bollocks

today i realized why it sucks to be alone in a big city.

this morning, i was running past a construction site and tripped over - literally - a pile of dust. about three inches high. and sprained my ankle. it didn't hurt too much at first, so i kept running, but the run soon became a walk, which became a slight limp, which by the time i got back to my dorm was a painful geriatric hobble.

later, i hobbled over to the nearest hospital, and waited in line for THREE hours to get my foot checked out by a doctor. actual face time with the doctor was about three minutes, during which she told me no bones were broken and all i had to do is R-I-C-E it. seriously, God love the english for free universal medical care, but THREE hours???

i miss friends & family.

i'd say three hours is pretty darn good for a sprained ankle - you don't exactly rank high in the triage list.
